Love

It’s amazing how many business owners go about their day solely focused on bringing home the bacon and while that is certainly an important part of life and business in general, it is also a recipe for an unhappy life and unhappy clients, which in turn sabotages your success. What’s the solution? Love.

When you started your business, did you love what you were doing or did you just think that this business was going to make you money?

If you loved the business that you started in the beginning, but have lost that loving feeling, this is a very common occurrence and there are several solutions to this predicament. If you still love the clients you serve, then you can adjust your business model to suit the areas of your life that are not currently being realized.

When a customer calls and you answer the phone, are you excited to connect and have a conversation with them or do you dread hearing what they have to say? If you aren’t attracting customers that you feel connected to, this is either a sign that your marketing needs a tune up because you are bringing in the wrong type of client or you may have outgrown this current business concept. There may be some simple tweaks that can get you back on track or it may be time to sell the business or hire someone to take over your position who will gladly serve your clients from a place of love and happiness.

Love is contagious.

Gratitude as a mindset plays a huge role in how much we love our business. How often do you take the time to think about and appreciate the blessings that occur throughout your day as a business owner? When your business gives you a chance to serve others from a place of love, you will naturally attract clients who will love your work and be grateful for you and in turn, this will radiate into other aspects of your life.

We are all busy trying to accomplish things in our daily life, but what matters at the end of the day is the love we feel and share, the energy we cultivate.

Are you generating positive energy? If not, know that you can if you choose it. Businesses that are started with the sole purpose of generating revenue reflect this to their customers. These business are not fulfilling long term not only because downturns in the economy are inevitable (so you won’t have that love and passion to pull you and your team through), but because even when businesses are cash cows, human beings tend to seek internal fulfillment which cannot be achieved in a passionless business.

Businesses that are founded on love have an atmosphere of love within the company culture.

If you are looking at your business, thinking you may fall into the “loveless” business category, now is a great time to do some soul searching.

  • Make a list of 10 things that you love in life
  • Make a list of 5 people (or types of people) you would LOVE to work with and WHY
  • Make a list of 5 ways that you can serve these people you love, doing some of the things you love to do (combining the first 2 points above)
  • Play around with ideas for how you can integrate this demographic and these activities into your business model
  • List 5 products or services that would encompass the people and activities that you love into your existing business (if a new business seems like the only option to accomplish the integration of love into your work life, that may be your answer)

Love is the most powerful energy in the universe.

To that voice in your head that may be reading this and thinking that this post is a bit of fluff that will not add value to your business acumen, what do you have to lose by adding love to your business? If you are going to spend your time and energy doing anything, wouldn’t you want to be happy in that pursuit? We may need money to pay the bills and keep the roof over our head, I certainly agree with that, but we also need love and happiness to live the life we were put on this earth to live.

Love is essential for good health – mentally, physically and spiritually. You only live once, so you may as well surround yourself with people you love while doing things that will help you feel and spread love into the world around you.
